When we were approached by NHS HEEM to work with them on a new set of promotional videos, our remit was simple: To produce a series of films for medical professionals - showcasing all the opportunities the East Midlands has to offer. It turns out there’s a lot.
The videos cover three different concepts; Working, learning and living. For the working and learning sections we worked very closely with the NHS in order to capture shots of medical professionals within these areas. For the ‘To Live’ video however, we required images of East Midlands life outside of the medical environment. In order to do the area justice we relied on the help of many different organisations.
One of our largest and most expansive campaigns so far this year, Affixxius Films' video production for the National Health Service's Health Education East Midlands. Set across a multitude of locations and several cities in the region, the production called for a variable mix of shots from various iconic landmarks and hotspots in these areas as well as interviews with trainee students and doctors. Below are some of the locations we were able to film in, thanks to their generosity and cooperation.
Heights of Abraham - www.heightsofabraham.com
Since first opening its gates to visitors in 1780's the Heights of Abraham has become one of the Peak District's most popular destinations, because we love working at height, we also took the opportunity to film at the iconic ‘Heights of Abraham’ – taking a ride on the cable car to capture some beautiful shots from the summit. The Heights of Abraham’s other main attraction is a stunning system of caves which are open to the public and makes for a great day out for the family

They also have a top rope wall that can be used by both kids and adults to learn the basics of roped climbing. We visited The Climbing Station – an extremely welcoming centre with state of the art climbing facilities. Here we caught some great dynamic footage of the talented (and very strong) climbers in action and politely declined having a go ourselves – citing tiredness from holding heavy cameras. The Climbing Station is welcome to all levels of ability and the experienced and friendly staff are always on hand to help you scale the heights!

Go Pros were attached to the gliders and one intrepid camera operator even braved the cockpit himself for a flight. The team at the Gliding Centre were extremely helpful and accommodating and I’m sure you’ll agree the shoot yielded some awe-inspiring images.

Lincoln Cathedral - www.lincolncathedral.com
Lincoln Cathedral was for almost 300 years the tallest building in the world. Yet, in spite of its size, it is filled with intricate detail. Later, in Lincoln Cathedral the architects of the gothic style perhaps reached the pinnacle of their art. Everywhere you look there is the most intricate detail, walls, roofs elaborated by the finest carving.
