Last week saw the launch of our first 2017 Christmas advert collaboration. A video that has gained an impressive 100k views in its first two days, and is now nearly at a staggering 200k views. Of course, it is none other than Leicester City Football Club Christmas advert. A client that not only is close to our Leicestershire offices, but one that is close to the hearts of many of the Leicester City football fans at Affixxius.
Heading over to the King Power stadium, the Affixxius production team set out to capture the magic of the Foxes at Christmas. Showcasing the wide range of Christmas gifts available in the Leicester City shop, with everything from festive jumpers, footballs, Filbert Foxes and of course, football shirts. The store had something for every City supporter fan young or old, so it seemed only fitting to have numerous City players involved in the creation.
Dedicated Leicester City Football fan, Affixxius Senior Partner, Tim was thrilled to learn we would be finally working with ‘his’ team.
“This project is one very close to my heart, it marry’s my two biggest passions (not including my family, of course!) in life, my beloved Leicester City Football Club and my business of 14 years, Affixxius Films. Needless to say, I’ve been incredibly ‘hands on’ with this project from the very the outset and getting see the players I watch every week at the King Power, work with the guys and girls I employ, felt like a real magical moment for me. The concept is homage to one of my favourite adverts of all time, the World Cup Brazil Nike ad set in the airport, which I still remember so well to this very day and like I say, getting to do this with the club I’ve supported since birth was a real treat. We’re delighted with the way the film has turned out, it’s been a genuine privilege to work on it and hopefully the other foxes fans love it as much as I do.”
The Affixxius production team gloated to all those stuck in the office about their bonding between takes with the footballers, whilst taking part in some keepie uppies with the players! During the scene where Wes Morgan magically changes into some fantastic Christmas jumpers, he was asked to volley the ball softly to our camera man Dan Eastgate. That didn’t quite go to plan as Wes actually smashed the ball, hitting the ceiling lights and our sound guy at the same time. Dan clearly made some sort of an impact with his ball catching skills during the shoot, as Andy King even asked if he was free on Tuesday to play in goal, something I’m sure footie fan Dan had to really to think about before he answered!
Between playing keepy uppies with Kelechi Iheanacho and trying not to break anything in the shop, the Affixxius production team had a great time on shoot. Even though those based in the offices were somewhat green with envy, of those getting to hang out at King Power Stadium, it appears Christmas is definitely a shade of Foxes blue and white for those Leicester City fans!
