Working with Leicestershire Police is always a pleasure here at Affixxius, and today marks the latest collaboration, the powerful rape awareness video, All is Not Lost.
Last year we worked with Leicestershire Police on the award winning Kayleigh’s Love Story. A global and viral success across all digital platforms, so much so, it is now in the school curriculum, used by the FBI and most importantly of all, it’s helped stop other cases of online grooming escalating to the same extent as Kayleigh Haywood’s story.
The subject of rape can be a very difficult topic for people to talk about, whether they’ve been a victim or not. Many who experience such an ordeal find conversations around it awkward and uncomfortable, often they feel to blame, they second guess their actions and subsequently then never disclose the rape at all. What’s interesting to discover through this video, (and a key factor in the creation) is bringing awareness that if someone has been a victim of rape, they shouldn’t be tempted to wash themselves. By not washing the police have a better chance bringing justice, by making the person responsible held accountable.
The video has just launched today and it’s already creating conversations over its content. It is without a doubt a tough topic to talk about, but it is already evident that the video is doing what it should, raising more awareness and opening up the subject to be debated about.
Assistant Chief Constable Julia Debenham, who is leading the campaign, said: “This campaign is about rape, about victims, and about perceptions.
“But it’s also about change – the change in mindset that is required to challenge misconceptions, and to look beyond what we think we know.
“I hope this campaign sparks debate about all the various issues it raises. I hope it empowers victims, and enables us and our CPS colleagues to help them to get justice.
“I also hope that it will make the public think twice about their own views, assumptions, and possibly unconscious prejudices.”
