Two of our videos have been shortlisted for four EVCOM awards and we’re over the moon about it! It is very gratifying for a creative company like ourselves to receive such prestigious recognition, regardless of whether we win.
Who or what is EVCOM? They are the Event & Visual Communication Association… and to be nominated is an incredible honour, not to mention very awesome! They have the following categories in their Screen Awards; Animation, Charity and Not for Profit, Cinematography, Content for Social Media, Direction, Documentary, Drama, Editing, Health and Safety, Laurus Award, Live Video, Marketing and PR, Music, One to Watch, Recruitment and Induction, Rising Star, Screen Innovation, Script, Training, VFX and Motion Graphics.
EVCOM is the official voice of the live event and visual communication industry in the UK. Through training, networking, lobbying and awards we champion the power and value of communication
The two videos that Affixxius have been nominated for are Kayleigh’s Love Story and Cricket Has Landed 3. Both creations we are very proud of with both generating an impact in some way.
Kayleigh’s Love Story
Reaching 50 million views on a video digital launch is something most video production companies aspire to achieve. We did that with Kaleigh’s Love Story and this is why we believe it has been nominated in 3 separate categories.
It all began when Leicestershire Police approached Affixxius Films with the core goal to create a film to raise awareness of speaking to strangers online. A visual that would be specifically aimed at a younger audience but a message that would be relevant for any age. The main story was based on events in the lead up to the final days of Leicestershire school girl, Kayleigh Haywood. A tragic tale in which online grooming ultimately led to her rape and murder, but a story both parties believe needs to be told. The main reason for the film was to raise awareness and importance of staying safe online, by being cautious of who you talk to and not meeting up with strangers.
Since the film launched it has already generated 45 case disclosures, essentially stopping stories like Kayleigh’s happening again. We can only hope that the video views and awareness continues to grow in Kayleigh’s honour.

Cricket Has Landed 3
Taking our final nomination is, of course, Cricket Has Landed 3. Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club approached Affixxius Films for the sixth year in a row to complete the trilogy of the Cricket Has Landed series that began two years before. Winner of the RTS Midlands “Best Promotional Programme” in its first incarnation, the final instalment of the film needed not only to complete the narrative we had been following for the past few years but also ramp up the excitement, drama and technical impressiveness of the film.
In creative terms, our last instalment had left the audience with something of a ‘cliffhanger’ - an alien invasion of super cricketers was besieging the city and, although repelled in an epic battle at Trent Bridge itself, the influx continued.
From the first year, we began the Cricket has Landed campaign, Trent Bridge’s attendance figures have risen from 9000 per game (on average) to over 12,500 per game, with some games being attended by over 15,000 which is remarkable for a club outside London with a total capacity of 17,000. This instalment of the film alone, grew Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club revenue by an additional million pounds, bucking the trend of every other single county cricket club who all saw drops in attendance and revenue.
