We’ve just reached Affixxius’ 14th birthday so we’ve decided in this weeks blog post to reflect on how far we’ve come, and share all the great achievements we’ve gained so far!
It's all cake and balloons in the office at the moment as we celebrate our fourteen years in the video production industry, but we’re also excited to share that both managers, Tim and Miles, have been shortlisted in the Natwest Great British Entrepreneur of the year awards. As you can imagine just being recognised is such an honour for them both - and we couldn't be a prouder!
Taking you back to 2003 in a shoebox bedroom nuzzled in the heart of Leicestershire, using dinosaur equipment, (some which is possibly now showcasing in a museum) and on dial up internet, the first Affixxius office was created. An office made to aid the development of two old Ratcliffe College boys passion for film, a hobby which had only grown since an early age and one that was cemented in both their future career goals. In the first three years Tim and Miles took on all jobs themselves, from cameramen to film editors. All these experiences have helped them to understand the daily obstacles our current staff might face, helping them be the managers they are today.
As this love of video blossomed, finally in 2003 they took the scary plunge to start building their business alongside hectic university degrees and part time jobs. They truly had their eyes fully focused on their end goal, which was to ultimately make Affixxius Films a well established, in-house bespoke film company.
Juggling the inevitable tests of growing up, gaining video production experience and finding company funds, Affixxius was 3 years into it's work when they were finally at a point to employ their first member of staff. Dave Whayman joined the team back in 2006 and now boasts an 11 year work anniversary at Affixxius. He began as general support, then moved around into various roles until he finally became the Creative Director he is today. What sounds very plain sailing for these two is quite the contrary, it was nothing but hard work from all parties. Making small videos in the beginning has now developed into something neither could comprehend. With over 113 awards under their belt, it's no surprise Affixxius is being head hunted by numerous companies and job seekers.
After moving from the tiny office, then to a bigger one, we finally all settled at the converted old Trinity Hall in Loughborough. The perfect spot for the creative team which had expanded to nineteen. Creating videos for Leicestershire Police, Joules, Raleigh, Nationwide Platforms, Leicester Tigers, Trent Bridge and also being the official creator of the animated signage at the Olympic Park, are all only a few of the companies we've had the pleasure to work with.
What is the future for Affixxius? Who knows, but it seems that with Tim and Miles behind the wheel it's only going to be bigger and better things, and of course, always making our content bespoke and unique to our clients.
