The eagerly awaited third instalment of the epic series premieres today! Being one of the most popular and socially engaging promotional videos on the Affixxius portfolio and we were sure to develop a truly epic finale to the award-winning series. Our creative team consisting of Dave Whayman, Tim Cabrelli and Miles Latham structured the premise around another blockbuster battle between alien invaders and the Notts Outlaws. This time the confrontation between the two sides was set in a CGI generated version of the world-famous Sherwood Forest. Our storyline is centred around a race by our heroes to retrieve the 'spirit of cricket' and the monolithic guard the aliens had installed in place to stop the Outlaws at all costs.
From a technical point of view, Cricket Has Landed 3 was perhaps one of our most ambitious projects to date, it involved a seamless collaboration between our production team led by Director Dave Whayman and our VFX unit spearheaded by Supervisor Charles Wren. With both Green Screen and Motion Capture work involved in the project we dedicated the bulk of our resources to ensuring our team were supported with state-of-the-art equipment and expert engineers. Production houses Audiomotion Studios and Parkside Media were instrumental partners in this production and the facilities they provided us were industry-leading.
The campaign also featured for the first time, genuine fans of the Nottingham Outlaws at Trent Bridge Cricket Stadium. We were truly overwhelmed at the number of supporters happy to volunteer and be part of this shoot, backing up their team in the real-life location we facilitated. Thanks to the tireless work of our Post-Production and VFX teams, we were able to design, develop and render a truly vivid scenery that blended animation with live action akin to a big budget feature film!
Cricket Has Landed 3 is live online right now and you can join the Outlaws on their awesome adventure! If you'd like to find out more about how we produced this promotional video, follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for more exclusive behind-the-scenes content on this project.
