Traditionally, Pakistani cricket teams release anthems before the new Pakistan Super League kicks off. This year, the 2017 PSL champions wanted to take a different approach to this by creating a rally cry fan engagement video very similar to the Notts Outlaws ‘Cricket Has Landed’ project, alongside their “Hum Zalmi” anthem for the 2019 PSL. They also wanted to incorporate their current #Yellowstorm campaign into the video as well as feature the players and fans.
The way the team structured this video showed a slight resemblance to our Notts Outlaws ‘Cricket Has Landed’ campaign as both projects required a mass amount of complex 3D/VFX. The main feature of the video was the storm and the players in the clouds. To do this, meant that our leading 3D/VFX Artist (Andy Kiernan) had to use a lot of research and development to find the resources necessary to get the right textures and imagery. He also used models of the players, and real-life simulations of Darren Sammy to create the movements of the ‘players in the clouds’.
The video took 4 months in the making, and was filmed across 3 continents between 3 separate crews!! It features Star players from Peshawar Zalmi such as Darren Sammy, Hasan Ali and many more. It also featured famous Pakistani film and TV star, Hamzah Ali Abassi.
